“The zoom courses I have been doing with Lucie have been a revelation.  Having worked with Lucie in person over the a number of years I had no faith that working with a screen between us would be at all satisfactory.  On the contrary - the three terms I have done recently on screen with her and with fellow students who not only happen to be miles away in the UK but also zoom in to the class from Portugal - France and Spain - have been fantastic.  The advantages of working at a distance are these:- We spend about six minutes each (about 6 people per class) at the beginning of each session looking at each others work in depth and discussing aspects of it.  We spend the rest of the lesson either learning new skills demonstrated by Lucie or looking at the next week’s content. 

Because we present to one another each week it is an incentive to work between classes so as to have something to show and receive constructive criticism from peers.

I really feel the classes on screen have been more helpful to me in my ongoing development as an artist than the classes taken in person at the Mary Ward Centre in the past.

It is certainly a tribute to Lucie that as a practising artist I have been coming back to her classes now since 2008. There is always something new to learn and to interact with other artists on a regular basis is a joy.

Lucie - as a teacher - has a special insight into shape and form and colour - it is always fascinating to hear her own interpretation of my work - and others.  She is also very encouraging even if I make a mess of a particular assignment - she manages to find something positive to say.  I highly recommend these zoom classes."  Jo Young
